And we're off like dirty shirts!

Greetings, potential "someday there will be an audience who will probably just be my wife" person or people.

About a year ago, my wife and I purchased some land and decided we were going to move off-grid--slowly. Our plan was to spend three or four years slowly building a homestead, that way we wouldn't come out of it with any debts to speak of.

This wasn't exactly spur-of-the-moment, as we'd been thinking about it for quite a few years, but it was still a big plunge to take.

The time since then has been quite the experience, and I've had a number of people (let's be honest--in my own family, mostly) ask me to document the journey for future reference.  Plus, maybe I'll get eaten by a bear, and sometime in the distant future this is the only thing you have left of me.

You never know.
